1. Is Phreego the right service for me?

We think it's the only internet service for you! Here's why. We offer more services for less of a price than all the other national providers. Please refer to our Product Comparison chart linked from the Home page.

We believe if you truly compare our services and our price, there isn't a better connection for the price.

If you travel, you can take Phreego where you go since we have national POPs (Point of Presence).

And now with accelerated dial-up, your connection is ten times faster than normal dial-up. We offer SPAM and virus protection, pop-up ad blocker, and much, much more. If you have a question about your connection, we're just a phone call away.

8. When I open my browser, it asks me to dialup, but I receive an Invalid Username error (error 691). Why?

The Phreego dialer contains information needed to connect to the Internet on the Phreego network.  When your web browser opens, it requests a connection from your operating system, rather then the dialer.  Since required information about your connection is not present, the connection fails.  To correct this issue, simply dial up with the Phreego dialer before opening your browser.

9. My phonebook does not seem to be updating.

It is important for you to keep your phonebook current. If you feel that your phonebook is not updating (note the we update this at least once per month), you can download the dialer again and run the install. This will overwrite the old phonbook with the new. You can download the latest dialer here (right click and select "Save Target As".

11. How do I configure my MAC running OS 8 or 9 to connect to Phreego?

Launch (double-click on) the Internet Setup Assistant. You will find an alias for it in a folder called "Assistants" on your hard disk. (If you don't see a folder called "Assistants," look in the folder called "Internet" on your hard disk.)

The Internet Setup Assistant asks: "Would you like to set up your computer to use the Internet?" Click "Yes".

Now it asks: "Do you already have an Internet account?" Click "Yes".

Now you see the "Introduction" window. Click the right arrow to continue.

Now you see the "Configuration name and type" window. Name this configuration "Phreego".

Click the "Modem" radio button. Click the right arrow to continue.

Now you see the "Modem Settings" window. Choose your modem from the pop-up menu that appears when you click on the modem selection. If you have an iMac, you should probably choose "iMac Internal 56k".

For the port setting, choose "Modem Port" if your modem is connected to your Mac's modem port, or choose "Printer Port" if your modem is connected to your Mac's printer port. If you have a newer Mac without a modem or printer port, you should probably choose "Internal Modem".

For most phone lines, "Tone" will be the correct radio button setting. Click the right arrow to continue.

Now you see the "Configuration information" window. Enter the proper phone number from the Phreego Pop Locator.

If , and only if, you have call waiting, you should enter "*70," before the phone number to disable call waiting while you are on the Internet.

In the name box, enter the "Network Login" that you specified during the Phreego sign-up process. Make sure that you add “@phreego.net” to your login name. (E.G.  username@phreego.net)

In the password box, enter your "Network Password".

Now you see the "PPP Connect Scripts" window. It asks: "Does your ISP require that you use a PPP Connect Script when you log in?" Select "No".

Now you see the "IP Address" window. Because you have a server assigned IP address, click the "no" radio button. Click the right arrow to continue.

In the domain name box, enter "phreego.com". Click the right arrow to continue.

When it asks: "Do you use proxy servers for Internet connections?" Select "No"

Now you see the "Conclusion" window. Click "Go Ahead" to save these settings

12. Can I use Phreego with my wireless pda?

Yes. In fact, one satisfied customer said she's tried everything for her Handspring Treo Communicator but was not satisfied until using Phreego. And she didn't want to pay the high-priced Earthlink charges as was recommended to her by her wireless vendor. Just remember, when dialing into our server without using our dialer program you will need to add @phreego.net to the end of your user name. For example: yourname@phreego.net.

13. What about email?

You get two email addresses with each Phreego account. If you need additional addresses, each one is just $.50 more per month and includes virus and spam protection.  Subscribers that wish to use their own email address (hotmail, yahoo, msn etc.) may still do so, however billing information or other important member information will be transmitted to your primary Phreego email address. We won't sell your email address either. That's the Phreego guarantee, and we are one of only a few ISPs in the world to make that claim. You can use the Phreego email web interface at  http://mail.phreego.com to access your email through a web browser. Or feel free to use your favorite email client such as MS Outlook Express.

Oh, by the way! We don't spam you, so we don't expect you to use Phreego email to spam others.
